The National Weather Service has issued a “winter weather advisory” from 6 pm tonight until 7:00 am Tuesday for Warren, McKean, Potter and Tioga Counties.  Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of  1 to 5 inches, with the highest amounts over northwest Warren  County and the least amounts south of route 6. In addition, a  light coating of ice is possible.

An accidental fire late Friday night destroyed an Elk County home. Firefighters were dispatched at 11:00 pm to the home of Shawm Geci on Long Level Road in Ridgway Township. An investigation determined flames broke out near the chimney.Damage estimated to be $250,000. There were no injuries.

Troopers at Lewis Run are investigating an ID theft taking place last Tuesday. The victim told police a call was received from their carrier asking to confirm the PIN for security purposes. The following day, the account was deactivated and the personal information was used to make fraudulent charges in excess of $10,000.

DUI charges are pending against a driver following a one-vehicle crash last Thursday night on Route 155 near Combs Creek Road in Liberty Township, McKean County. Troopers  say when they investigated, they found the driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac  was driving under the  influence. A passenger in the vehicle was allegedly found in possess of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. Police did not indicate which person was the driver and which was the passenger but said the suspects are a 31 year old Emorium woman and a 26 year old Roulette man.

An Allentown, PA teenager is facing charges in Tioga County court relating to a police chase Saturday evening in Mansfield.  State police there say the 15 year old boy ws driving a VW Jetta and fled police by going off of Route 15 for Route 6. Police were unable to stop the car. When the teen braked, the trooper was unable to stop in time and drove past the VW. The teen could not stop and hit the cruiser in the drivers side rear door. There were no injuries for the teen driver his 16 year old female  passenger from Macungie or the police officer.

Slippery roads are blamed for a couple of Tioga County accidents this past Friday. The driver of a Ford F-150XLT lost control of the pick up when it hit an icy section on Route 6 in Richmond Township Friday morning. The truck spun off the road and onto the southern berm stopping in a ditch. A passerby helped pull the truck out of the ditch. Jared Nichols of Wellsboro escaped injury Friday morning when his Jeep Wrangler slid off the unplowed Shumway Road in Charleston Township during a snow storm. The Jeep rolled over once before coming to rest on its wheels. Minor injuries were reported for a Morris, PA man whose pick up truck rolled over a couple of hours later on Route 287 in Morris Township. Michael Cendoma was taken to Williamsport General Hospital after his Chevrolet Silverado went out of control on an icy patch while going south. The truck rolled over one time before s topping.

A Westfield  motorist escaped injury in a mishap last Thursday afternoon in Lawrence Township.  According to Mansfield based state police, John Lockett was going west when his Pontiac G8 went off of Route 49 and collided with a utility police

.Both drivers escaped injury in a collision Saturday morning in Lafayette Township, McKean County. State police at Lewis Run say the collision occurred on Route 219 near Kennedy Springs in Lafayette Township when Lewis Run resident Jackie Krouse’s Toyota Camry fishtailed and sideswiped a Toyota Tundra driven by Chad  Vinelli of Bradford. After impact, Krouse’s car went off the road and hit a tree.

The theft of a gun in Elkland last Friday afternoon is being investigated by state police at Mansfield. The army green Jimenez Arms JA380 with loaded magazine was taken from John Gardner’s pick up truck while it was parked in front of his house at 210 Second Street between 12:30 and5:30 pm Friday.
