An elderly NY state motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Cherry Springs Road in Abbott Township. State police at Coudersport report 80 year old Thomas Taylor was thrown off of his Kawasaki Concourse after hitting a patch of gravel at around 3:30 pm.

Three people were hurt in a one-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Lafayette Township, McKean County. According to Lewis Run state police, Lawrence McAninch of Brookville was going south on Route 219 when his Nissan Armada crossed the fog line, hit some guardrails and became airborne. Two of the six occupants in the car were taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center by ambulance a third was later flown to Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

No one was hurt in a three-car pile-up in Middlebury Township, Tioga County Wednesday afternoon. Troopers at Mansfield explained 18 year old Caleb Hurd on Westfield was traveling south on Route 287 and 88 year old Marqueen Roe0f Tioga  was headed north on Catlin Hollow Road. Hurd was turning left at the “T” intersection and Roe’s Ford Edge collided with his Chevy S-10. The impact caused the pick-up to roll onto its side and hit a Ford Ranger driven by 83 year old Howard Wattles also of Westfield. All three drivers were using seatbelts as was 79 year old Carol Wattles riding in the SUV.

Coudersport borough police say both drivers escaped injury in a rear-end collision Thursday afternoon on East Second Street. Officers report the collision occurred when Ray Madison turned left to enter the parking lot at Potter County Beverage and his Dodge Dakota was hit in the rear by a Pontiac rental car driven by Adam Greenman who did not slow down in time to avoid the collision.

A search Thursday afternoon in the Ulysses area had a happy ending. Volunteers joined Sweden Township and State Police in looking for 72 year old Steven Haskins who had left his home at 406 North Street in Ulysses at around 2:00 pm. He was operating a Polaris Sportsman 250 towing a small cart with a generator, food and some camping supplies. Haskins reportedly  suffers from several medical conditions.

A theft occurring Wednesday afternoon between 5:40 and 5:45 pm in Eldred Township is being investigated by state police at Lewis Run. During that brief period of time, a thief stole an iPad from a package that had been delivered to the Barden Brook residence but UPS.

A Bipartisan resolution  has been approved by the state senate  which would create a bipartisan/bi-cameral commission to study and recommend improvements  for the purpose of deploying high speed internet for unserved and underserved areas of the commonwealth .Meanwhile, Tri-County Rural Electric is working to bring broadband to its members in the Black Forest, through it’s new subsidiary Tri–Co Cnnections.  Telcom veteran Bill Gerski, who, earlier in his career,  worked for  Adelphia Communicatsions was hired by Tri County last fall to oversee as a vice president  responsible for marketing and sales development for Tri-Co as it deploys a fiber to the home internet network across the co-opssevice territory.. During the Eliot Ness Festlast Saturday Black Forest Broadcasting  encountered Gerski who updated us on the progress and said he is  optimistic that the deployment  will reach the Dingman Run area outside of Coudersport  this coming October. Gerski’s wife,  Denise Potter Gerski grew up in Oswayo.
