The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers has  announced the 2020 scholarship recipients. The Community Foundation currently administers funds that specifically provide scholarships to students in Bradford, Potter, Sullivan and Tioga Counties Pennsylvania and Tioga County, New York.

Community Foundation Scholarships can be established by individual donors, corporations, and are often in honor or in memory of a loved one.

Here are the 2020 Potter County scholarship recipients from CFTT’s managed funds. A total of $7,000 was awarded.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of 12:00 a.m., June 28, that there are 505 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 85,496. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19. The number of cases in the Black Forest Broadcasting Service Area continue to inch up. Tioga County now has 24 cases; Potter 15, McKean County, 15; Elk, 13 and Cameron which has held steady for several weeks at 2 cases now has 3 cases. Across the border in New York State, Cattaraugus County now has 123 cases and Allegany has 59. There are 6,606 total deaths in Pennsylvania attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 3 new deaths. Mask wearing is required in all businesses in all phases of reopening. Consistent mask wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

There are 633 patients who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable cases and not confirmed cases. There are 657,486 patients who have tested negative to date. Pennsylvania has a 78% recovery rate.

Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. In nursing and personal care homes, there are 17,677 resident cases of COVID-19, and 3,212 cases among employees, for a total of 20,889 at 687 distinct facilities in 51 counties—none here in the Black Forest Broadcasting Service Area. Out of the  total deaths, 4,528(68.9%) have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. Approximately 6,484 of the total cases are in health care workers.

Minor injuries were reported for a Coudersport man following a one vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Steer Brook road in Hebron Township. State Police at Coudersport say Stephen Limeburner was going south on Route 44 when his Ford Escape went out of control and flipped over. He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Cole.

18 year old Autumn Diel  of Sabinsville  was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries following a one vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Clymer Township, Diehl was driving a Chevy Impala which went off the side of the road and traveled through a fence and down an embankment before striking a rise in embankment  causing front and damage the car spun around clockwise coming to rest in a pasture. She was taken by ambulance to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital

State police at Mansfield have arrested 29 year old Nathan Phillips of Covington for burglary. Authorities claim that last Tuesday afternoon, Phillips went into the home of a 29  year old Covington woman without her permission and took multiple items from the residence, including a black tattoo machine. screwdriver set, Bob Marley record player 32 inch Samsung TV. Two silver rings and other items valued at a total of $680.00.

Minor injuries were reported for a new Ville Pennsylvania driver found in one vehicle crash Saturday morning in Covington Township, Tioga County, Elizabeth Anderson was going north on Route 15 during a rainstorm when her Ford Focus went off the road on a right hand curve and slid into some guard cables and the median on the west side of the road. The car traveled across both lanes and then hit some guardrails on the east side of the road before finally stopping.

A 16 year old Westfield driver received minor injuries in a one vehicle crash occurring last Friday evening on Ackley road in Clymer Township. The teen  old driver was going south when his Nissan Altima traveled off the west side of the road. struck a fence and then a utility pole coming to rest in a field. He was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

State Police at Lewis Run have arrested a 25 year old Eldred  woman on charges of assault with a weapon for an incident allegedly taking place Saturday evening on Main Street and Chris drive in Eldred Borough. Police report that the suspect caused injury to a 49 year old Eldred  man and five  other victims listed as children from infancy to 16–  all from the elder area. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was transported  to Bradford Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation. Charges are pending

A 49 year old Rixford  woman has been cited for physical harassment for a domestic violence incident allegedly taking place. Friday night on Looker  Mountain Trail in Otto Township. Police say the woman struck a 55 year old man with an open hand during an argument.
