A Kane woman was slightly hurt late last night in an unusual mishap in Lafayette Township, McKean County. Lewis Run State Police say the accident occurred when 30 year old Brandon Johnston was driving on Forest Road 313 near the Route 219 intersection at around 11:30 pm and tried to stop his 2017 Chrysler 300 to let his passenger, 64 year old Lisa Swanson get out to use a restroom. Johnston failed to stop the car which traveled through a fence on the southern side of the road, traveled through a fence, went down a bank and entered Kinzua Creek. Johnston was not hurt and Swanson declined treatment. Johnston has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance.
Police do not know if 52 year old Rodney Gilbert of Tioga, PA was hurt or not when his 1998 Chevrolet Corvette hit a utility pole in Farmington Township early Monday morning. Gilbert’s southbound car went off of Elkhorn Road for an unknown reason and became disabled after breaking the pole in half causing live wires to drop onto the road. Gilbert reportedly left the scene without notifying authorities but he was identified by two witnesses who saw his car being towed by a truck down the roadway.
Julie Fish of Millerton escaped injury Monday night when her Ford Explorer hit a deer on Route 328 in Jackson Township, Tioga County. Even though Fish abruptly braked, she was unable to avoid hitting the white tail.
The theft of some medicine from a McKean County home is being investigated by state police at Lewis Run. A 70 year old Rixford woman told troopers a prescriptio0n bottle containing about 60 capsules of Klonopin was taken from her Columbia Hill Road Monday or Tuesday.
Vandalism to the Sandy Beach Park at Red Fox lane and Laurel Mill Road is being probed by state police at Ridgway. Vandals fired a small caliber hand gun damaging wooden sculptures, a wooden bench, sheet metal on the roof of the pavilion and concession stand owned by Ridgway Township late Sunday night. Damage is estimated to be about $140.
