State police Fire Marshal Cpl. Greg Agosti is investigating a blaze which caused minimal damage to a building located at 237 Brusselies Street in St. Marys Saturday evening. Flames originated in a second story apartment above La Catrina Mexican Restaurant at about 7:30 pm. The restaurant was closed at the time. The fire was contained to a common area on the second floor and damage was said to be minimal. The building is owned by Kevin Berry of St. Marys. There were no injuries.

Coudersport based state police have arrested 29  year old Corey Marvel of Coudersport  for attacking a 25 year old Austin woman at about 6:00 pm Saturday Augsut 3 at a home on Moody Hollow Road in Austin. Troopers claim when they investigated a domestic violence assault they found Marvel had hit a 25 year old Austin woman several times. He has been charged with simple assault and harassment.

A Bernville, PA motorcyclist was hurt in an accident Sunday morning in Jay Township, Elk County. According to state police at Ridgway, Roger Mills was going east on the Mt. Zion Road when a deer jumped out of the woods and onto the road where the Honda Goldwing collided with it. Mills was taken to Penn Highlands Elk by ambulance but his wife, who was a passenger, was not hurt. Both were wearing helmets according to officers.

A Mansfield truck driver was treated at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for injuries he suffered when his tractor trailer wrecked on Route 660  in  Richmond Township Friday evening. Ronald Penner’s Peterbilt 388 went off the road on a left hand curve and rolled onto the passenger side.

No one was hurt when a passenger car plowed through a Covington  Township house Friday afternoon. Mansfield based state police explained Alexander Cavanaugh was headed south on South Main Street in Covington Township early Friday evening. Cavanaugh’s 2008 Ford Taurus went off the road an a left curve, went off the west side of the road, hit a house and traveled furlough the north part and went out the south west portion before stopping. No one was inside the house at the time of the crash.

DUI charges have been filed against 57 year old Benjamin Brent of Coudersport after lab results confirmed state police suspicions that Brent was DUI when he was stopped at the intersection of West Second Street and North West Street in the borough at around 11:00 pm June 21.

A Coudersport woman, facing charges for an alleged incident late last month has now been charged with defiant criminal trespass. Troopers allege 28 year old Kacie Butler went inside a house at 80 Wildcat Road in Sharon Township on the afternoon of July 25 and refused to leave even after being told by the occupant 56 year old Victor Wackwitz several times to leave. Butler was one of three Coudersport residents arrested July 29 for  manufacturing illegal drugs. Kacie Butler, 28; Ellis Ott, 32 and Jeffrey Baumgratz, 52 were charged with  conspiracy, possesson with intent to deliver, manufacturing , possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. They were arrested after troopers tried to arrest Butler and Ott on McKean County warrants. They were located before they were able to carry out their plans to leave the area. When troopers, Port Allegany and Smethport police officers began chasing their car north on Route 155 from Port Allegany to Eldred, the suspects drove to the end of Slack Hollow  Road and fled on foot but were collared a short time later. A search of the car turned up more drugs. And they are now facing additional charges in McKean County. Ott was charged with DUI  in connection to the incident.

State police at Emporium investigated the theft of a battery from a Chevrolet car parked at 718 Rich Valley Road Emporium Friday morning. The battery is valued at $87.99 and belonged to a 55 year old Emporium woman.

A criminal mischief taking place early last Wednesday morning at 450 Fox Hill Road in Ulysses Township is being investigated by state police at Coudersport. Vandals used a rock to smash several windows at the home of Ronald Paul of Harrison Valley.
