Region’s unemployment situation improves, three  Coudersport residents nabbed for manufacturing drugs… Eldred woman jailed for threatening husband with kitchen knife…Phony $100 bill passed at Potter County business….

The unemployment picture in all five counties served by Black Forest Broadcasting improved between May and June according to figures just released by the state Department of Labor and  Industry. Potter County’s rate went from 5.1 to 4.7%; Mckean went down from 4.4 to 4.2%; Cameron saw a full percentage drop from  5.3 to 4.3%; Tioga County realized an improvement from 4.8 to 4.5% and Elk improved from 4.3 to 4.0% . Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was 3.8% for the period while the national figure was at an all time low of 3.7%.Chester County had the best rate at 2.7%, a 2/10’s of a percent decrease, while Snyder County reeling from a major employer shut down saw an increase from 6.1 to 6.2% .

Three Coudersport residents have been arrested for manufacturing illegal drugs. Kakcie Butler, 28; Ellis Ott, 32 and Jefreyu Baumgratz, 52 are facing charges of conspiracy, possesson with intent to deliver, manufacturing , possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. They were arrested after troops tried to arrest Butler and Ott on McKean County warrants. They were located before theye were able to carry out their plans to leave the area. When troopers, Port Allegany and Smethport police officers began chasing their car north on Route 155 from Port Allegany to Eldred, the suspects drove to the end of Slack Hollow  Road and fled on foot but were collared a short time later. A search of the car turned up more drugs. And they are now facing additional charges in McKean County.

State police at Lewis Run have arrested 30 year old Cassie Rogers of Eldred for harassment with physical contact. Troopers claim Rogers threatened her husband,  44 year old Bobby Rogers with a kitchen knife during an argument at around 5:30 Tuesday morning at their home located at 1958 Prentisvale Road. Unable to post bail, the defendant was committed to the McKean County Jail.

Troopers at Coudersport are looking for a suspect who allegedly passed a phony $100 bill at the Genesee Acorn Market on July 21. A white male, about 230 pounds driving a silver or tan vehicle used the fake money to buy gasoline and other items at around 10:00 am that day. Anyone who can provide information is asked to call state police at 814.274.8690.

The theft of an inspection  sticker is being probed by state police at Ridgway. The sticker was takine off a 2010 Mercury Mariner while it was parked at 139 Commons Lane in that town between 3:00 pm Tusday and 11:30 am Wednesday.

Ridgway based state police have arrested 42 year old Scott Lowe of Wilcox for defiant criminal trespass. Lowe allegedly went onoto property on Commons Lane in Ridgway Tuesday nighta fter being told by Joni Papa, 63 of Brockport, he was not allowed to enter the property.l
