Mansfield motorcyclist killed in accident…Several people, including children, hurt in rear-end collision in Tioga County…Smethport truck driver seriously hurt in accident Saturday night……Another Smethport man hurt in accidental shooting…..Lawrenceville man accused of harassment and criminal mischief…..

 

A Mansfield motorcyclist died last Wednesday night in an accident on Route 660 in Covington Township, Tioga County. State police report 51 year old Anthony Fasse’s Yamaha went off the westbound lane on a left hand curve, traveled down an embankment where it struck a ditch and came to rest. Fasse was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven people were hurt in a rear-end collision last Thursday morning on Route 6 in Charleston Township, Tioga County. Troopers at Mansfield say the collision occurred when Jayann Cavanaugh-Teeter of Wellsboro stopped her Buick Rendevouz to wait for oncoming traffic and was hit from behind by a Subaru Outback driven by Constance Root also of Wellsboro. Root and six passengers, including three children, were taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital by ambulance. One passenger, a 44 year old woman from Wellsboro did not require treatment for a minor injury.Cavanaugh-Teeter and a two year old boy, in a child passenger seat, were not hurt.

A Smethport truck driver was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of serious injuries he suffered Saturday night in an accident on Route 46 in Norwich Townshp. According to Lewis Run state police, Mark Carlson was operating a Kenworth northbound when the rig went off the road. Traveled down an embankment and collided with a tree. An oil based liquid being hauled in an open container spilled in the collision and had to be cleaned up after the Department of Environmental Protection was notified.

A hit and run vehicle, entering a private drive, damaged a power line, pole business sign and satellite dish just before noon Friday. The unknown vehicle was left the scene without the driver notifying authorities of the crash

An accidental gun discharge sent a Smethport man to Olean General Hospital last Wednesday. Lewis Run state police explained a 24 year old man was struck in his right calf when he was removing a 9mm handgun from a holster.

State police at Mansfield have charged 27 year old Cory Hurlbert of Lawrenceville with harassment and criminal mischief for an assault allegedly taking place on the afternoon of may 18 on the Tremaine Road in Lawrence Township. Hurlburt is accused of giving unwanted physical contact to 36 year old Karla Simonds of Lawrence Township and breaking some kitchen glasses and dishes valued at $50.

Lewis Run troopers did not release the name of a 52 year old Port Allegany man who is accused of punching a 20 year old Port Allegany woman in the face during an argument at a house located at 150 East Cutler Road in Liberty Township early Sunday morning.

A Ulysses teenager is facing various charges after an incident which began Friday morning when he ran away from home. According to Police Chief Bryan Phelps, he was contacted by a business owner who reported a teenager was behind his store with a large knife. Chief Phelps located the youth who was carrying a large knife and backpack and tried to flee but was tackled  by Phelps and was forced to drop the knife. Once in custody the suspect was allegedly found in possession of a key from a nearby UTV parked at a local dealer that he had attempted to steal but was unable get it in reverse. The backpack reportedly contained items stolen from Kosa’s Market on Main Street and the United Methodist Church located at the corner of North and Water Streets.Charges will be filed in juvenile court.

The theft of a Harley Davidson from a home on Ogdensburg Road in Union Township last week is being probed by state police in Mansfield. The  1982 Blue  Harley Davidson with PA Registraton 9HF30 belonged to John Wright of Roaring Branch and was takent beween 9:00 am and 1:00 pm last Wednesday.

Someone stole a license plate from a truck owned by Mayberry Transportation while it was parked at 3673 Route 6 in Gaines Township between 7:00 pm May 21 and noon the next day. It bears PA  registration # AG01735.

Two McKean County businesses have been fined by the Liquor Control Board/ The Lighter Side in Bradford was fined $200 for failing to have their Board-approved manager complete  required RAMP training within 180 days of the board’s approval of the appointment between November 6 and December 12, 2018. An administrative Law Judge ordred Brqadford City Beers to pay $300 for failing to maintain records according to the liquor code between January 3, 2018 and January 3, 2019.

DUI charges against a Gifford resident  are pending lab results.  State police at the Lewis Run barracks claim the 55 yearold man failed a field sobriety test  early Friday morning after troopers stopped his 2005 Lincoln Continental Navigator on Route 59 in Keating Townsip.
