Voter Turnout was low for yesterday’s Pennsylvania Primary Election and the special congressional election in the 12th District which includes Potter and Tioga Counties. Republican Fred Keller easily won the congressional race beating Democrat Marc Friedenberg with an unofficial total of 89,176 (68.1%) to 41,794 (31.9%). Keller will now take the seat vacated by Tom Marino who won against Friedenberg last November but resigned shortly after taking office due to serious health problems. President Trump campaigned Monday night in Montoursville for Keller. Here in Potter County, one race for county commissioner is a cliff hanger with one vote separating Nancy Grupp with 1490 to J. David Buckler’s 1,489 for the Republican nomination. The votes will be subject to canvassing which begins on Friday and Potter County Director of Elections Sandy Lewis say there is always a possibility for a change in the results if the board finds errors were committed. Incumbent Republican Paul Heimel received an unofficial 1,540 votes while Larry Henrichsen came in fourth with 247. Heimel and either Grupp or Buckler will likely be elected in November as Barry Hayman is the only Democrat candidate for the office. Three commissioners will be chosen.

No cause has been found yet for a fire which destroyed a St. Marys home Monday morning. No one was in the two story wood frame house owned by Kenneth and Janet Wolf when flames broke out at around 11:00 am. Damage is estimated to be $700,000.Volunteer fire fighters from Fox Township, Johnsonburg, and Ridgway assisted the Crystal Fire Department in battling the blaze.

The driver of a motor coach escaped injury in a mishap occurring on Grom Hill Road in Eulalia Township early Monday morning. State police report Terry Roof was headed north just before 5:00 am when his vehicle failed to make a right hand turn onto a dirt road, went oft the road and rolled into a ditch. State police were assisted by Coudersport Emergency Services and Portville Trucking.

Troopers at Lewis Run are looking for a vehicle which hit a parked car on Walnut Street in Wetmore Township late last night. The unknown unit traveled off of the pavement and collided with a 2004 VW Jetta parked in a driveway. The driver left the scene without reporting it to police or the car owner.

No injuries were reported for an Elkland man whose SUV hit a deer in Lawrence Township, Tioga County Monday morning. According to troopers, 27 year old Shawn Lawless was going east on Route 49 when his Hyundai Elantra hit a deer which had been previously hit and was laying on the road. The SUV sustained minor damage and leaked some fluids.
