The 53rd Potter-Tioga Maple Festival held in Coudersport this past weekend was a huge success by all accounts. Instead of selling hot dogs and hamburgers this year the Coudersport Rotary Club decided to sell homemade pierogies made from member Natalie Stenhach’s family recipe. They were a hit and no doubt will be featured again. All money raised goes to charities. Natalie (L)is being coaxed by member Cathy Bowers to stand still for the camera.

State police across the region have been busy responding to harassment incidents lately. A 23 year old Wellsboro man has been arrested for harassment with physical contact after a fight Friday afternoon on Route 287 in Middlebury Township. Troopers did not who did not release the suspect’s name, allege he hit a 31 year old Tioga man in the left eye when they two argued over a woman.

A 28 year old Cyclone man was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center Emergency Room Saturday afternoon following a physical altercation at a home on Route 59 in Keating Township. Police explained the man had left the scene after a squabble turned physical and while leaving made statements about harming himself. He was taken into custody, without incident,  and transported to  hospiotal when he returned to the house.

Both people involved in a heated argument last night have been arrested for harassment with physical contact. According to state police at Lewis Run, a 43 year old man and a 43 year old Kane woman pushed each other during an argument at a house on Water Street in Hamilton Township. The male suspect fled on his 2006 Harley Davidson and was located at a nearby garage . After being charged with DUI, the suspect was taken to UPMC Kane for a blood draw.

A Wellsville, NY driver was not hurt when his Saturn Ion wrecked on the CCC Memorial Highway in Portage Township Cameron County early Tuesday morning . Ronald Chapman was traveling east when the car went off the pavement on a right hand curve and hit a section of guardrails. Chapman was cited for driving with operating privileges suspended  or revoked.

Coudersport based state police are looking for a hit and run and driver whose vehicle caused property damage in Homer Township last Wednesday evening. A southbound vehicle traveled off of Route 872, went through the front yard at a residence at 1500 Dividing Ridge Road, continued for about 400 feet and then collided with a utility pole support cable and a parked 2000 Honda CRV-EX. The vehicle then continue towards Austin without the driver stopping to notify the property owner or police.

An Austin driver was able to get out of his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado when the engine caught fire early Friday afternoon on Kaple Hill Road in Summit Township. Dennis Furman was going north when smoke emitted from under the hood and subsequently caught fire. Furman drove the pickup onto the berm and put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. Coudersport volunteer firefighters responded to thescene.

An ATV operator was hurt in a crash on private property  at 977 Moore Hill Road in Shippen Township Friday evening. The accident was investigated by state police at Emporium but since it occurred on private property, no further information was released.

DUI charges have been filed against three drivers. Coudersport based state police arrested a 50 year old Downingtown man on the night of April 27 on Route 44 in Eulalia Township , Troopers claim the driver failed the field sobriety test and charges are pending results of chemical testing. Troopers at Lewis Run claim a 28 year old Olean, NY man was found to be driving his 1999 Plymouth under the influence when he was pulled over for a summary traffic violation. Charges are also pending lab results for a 46 year old Rixford driver who was pulled over for an alleged traffic violation on the Kansas Branch Road in Otto Township last Wednesday afternoon. He was driving a 1999 Ford F250 Supercab.

State police at Ridgway have arrested 40 year old Joshua Wendel  of St. Marys on retail theft charges. Authorities claim Wendel tried to steal $80 worth of goods through the self checkout  counter on the night of April 19 and again last Friday when he allegedly tried to steal merchandise valued at $86 the same way. He was caught by store security who then connected him to the earlier theft.

A criminal mischief occurring between April 26 and this past Friday on Route 555 is being investigated by State police in Ridgway. Vandals cut a rope fence and damaged posts across a driveway at a camp in Benezette Township owned by Dawn Alongzo. It appears a vehicle wasused to damage the gate. A white strip from a Chrysler bumper was found nearby. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 814.776.6136.is being investigated by State police in Ridgway. State police based at Mansfield investigated a burglary at a camper parked on Hornsby Hollow Road in Chatham Township, Tioga County sometime over the past month. Criminals damaged the camper door to the tune of $100. The camper is owned by a 50 year old Harrison Valley man.

Gertrude A. NAGEL, 98, of Harrison Valley, PA, died Thursday, May 2, 2019 in her home.  Born July 16, 1920, in Harrison Valley, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Sarah J. Schoonover Warriner.  On April 3, 1971, in Harrisburg, she married Charles W. Bainbridge, who predeceased her on October 30, 1978.  On May 3, 1984, in Harrison Valley, she married Norman G. Nagel, who predeceased her on August 12, 2000.  She was a member of the Harrison Valley Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. Surviving are:  two nieces, Lois Pelton of Mansfield and Ruth Warriner of Harrison Valley;  a son-in-law, Harold (Dixie) Reisinger of Ulysses;  a step-daughter, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Brest of Ellwood City;  ten grandchildren;  several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;  several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.  In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth M. Reisinger; two brothers, Allen Warriner and C. Wayne Warriner;  a sister, Ida May Warriner; and a step-daughter, Charlotte Ziegler.  Friends may call Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday in Harrison Valley Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.  The Rev. Scott Wills and the Rev. Timothy H. Miller will co-officiate.  Burial will be in Mills Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the C&MA Church, 217 E.
