A 27 year old Kersey man has been arrested for strangulation, simple assault, harassment and harassment. James Eckert is accused by state police of committing the crimes against a 29 year old Kersey  woman on Dagus Mines Road in Fox Township on the afternoon of Sunday, March 31. District Judge Mark Jacob placed Eckert on ROR with $5,000 unsecured bail.

Coudersport based state police arrested 23 year old Daniel Odell of Rexville, NY for possessing drugs and paraphernalia. Troopers say the charges were filed after they went to a home located at 692 Route 6 West in Eulalia Township on the night of March 31 to check on the welfare of two children living at that home.  During the course of their investigation, police claim, drug paraphernalia was in plain view. Charges are being filed in district court.

And troopers at Coudesport are looking for the person or persons who left two hypodermic needles at the intersection of the Ellisburg Road and Main Street in Genesee. The needles were found  Saturday af around 11:30 am and anyone who can provide more information is asked to call the barracks at 814.274.8690.

Injuries were reported for a Westfield woman after an accident last Friday morning in Deerfield Township, Tioga County. Authorities say a Ford Fusion driven by Beatrice Treat went out of control after hitting a patch of ice and slush on Route 48. When Treat tried to regain control, the car slid off the north side of the road and hit a  utility pole where it came to rest. Treat was taken by ambulance to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment  of unknown injuries.

A Millerton, PA driver escaped injury last Friday night when his Chevrolet Trail Blazer hit a deer on South Main Street in Richmond Township. Police said Samuel Hartwell  was unable to avoid the collision but was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt.

State police across the region have made several  DUI arrests recently. A 58 year old Reynoldsville, PA is suspected of d riving his 2002 Chevrolet Blazer under the influence of drugs when he was stopped by troopers responding to a call about an erratic driver on Route 219 North near the Blackberry Lane intersection in Hamlin Township McKean County Saturday evening. The driver, whose name was not released, was takent to Bradford Regional Medical Center for a blood draw. DUI charges are pending against 57 year old James Pratt of Jeannette, PA following a one-vehicle crash last Thursday afternoon on River Road in Jay Township, Elk County. State police allege Pratt was driving his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado   under the influence when it crossed the highway . struck a culvert and traveled through a field stopping against a pile of cut firewood.  Pratt was taken to PennHIghlands Elk for treatment of injuries and a blood draw. When troopers stopped 59  year  old Wayne Pichler of Kersey for speeding on Shelvey Summit Road in Fox Township last Thursday afternoon, they allegedly found he was driving  his 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee  under the influence of alcohol. DUI charges are also pending against a 31 year old Port Allegany man who was pulled over by patrol officers after allegedly committing a traffic violation on Route 155 in Liberty Township,  Police say charges are pending lab results.

Troopers at Ridgway are looking for a hit and run vehicle which damaged  a parked unit in The St. Marys Walmart Parking lot at around 3:30 pm Sunday. The unknown, small black SUV backed into the rear of a legally parked Chevy Equinox. The male driver left the scene without providing required information.

An unknown thief stole several items from a shopping cart located at the Sl. Marys Walmart early Friday morning. A black Hollister jacket and white camo Champion backpack were taken along with a set of kees, CBR Title and Money Network ATM car belonging to  a couple of 9 year old Clearfild residents.
