Coudersport based state police are advising residents that there are a number of scams going on in the area and to be vigilant.

Along those lines, troopers at Coudersport investigated a possible fraud/forgery attempt last month. A 72 year old Harrison Valley woman told authorities she used Craigslist to sell a hutch and was sent voided checks to cash. Anyone who has had a similar experience is encouraged to contact state police at 814.274.8690.

A Roulette man has been jailed on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. State police allege 26 year old Billy Jordan threatened to kill a 24 year old Roulette woman via a Facebook message Saturday night. Jordan was arraigned before District Judge Annette Eason after being taken into custody, and unable to post bail was committed to the Potter County Jail.

A harassments charge has also been filed against 28 year old Elizabeth Martin of Coudersport after she allegedly hit a 28 year old Coudersport man in the face during an argument early Sunday morning on East Second Street, Coudersport. Police said multiple scratches and cuts were visible on the victim’s face. Martin will answer the charges before District Judge Nanette Easton.

Kane based state police have arrested a 49 year old Ridgway man for violating a protection from abuse order. Police did not release the suspect’s name, but said he contacted a 33 year old Bradford woman last Friday morning in Norwich Township in violation of a standing PFA. He was arraigned before District Judge David Engman.

No charges will be filed for a scuffle taking place Monday morning at the McKean County Jail. State police report a 54 year old man and a 21 year old man were involved. The older man was evaluated at Bradford Regional Medical Center but declined to press charges.

Troopers at Coudersport investigated the theft of some items from a parked car late last month. John Close of Ulysses was forced off of O’Donnell Read at about 6:00 am November 19 by an unknown vehicle. His 2005 Saturn got stuck in a ditch and when Close returned with a tractor about 45 minutes later, he discovered several items had been stolen including Carhart coveralls, a spotlight, Ergodyne gloves, yellow nightstick flashlight, binoculars, CD case filled with CDs, and a lunch pail with about 60 pain prescription pills. The car was parked near Dominion Transmission at 671 O’Donnell Road in Genesee Township. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 814.274.8690.

A burglary at a West Washington Street business in Bradford is being investigated by state police at Kane. Sometime between December 6 and 19, burglars entered the building by removing plywood from the basement entrance. The criminals cut and removed multiple copper pipes valued at $1900 and a trail camera valued at $100.

A Galeton couple escaped injury Monday morning when their car hit a deer on Route 6 in Gaines Township. State police report Jeffrey Blass was unable to avoid hitting the whitetail when it entered the highway from the south side as Blass was going north. Both the driver, and his wife, Trixie were using seatbelts.

David E. CAMERON, 56, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Ulysses, passed away December 22, 2018 in his home after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.
Born October 2, 1962, he was the son of David Cameron and Arlene and Dean Lampman. He was raised on the farm and graduated from Northern Potter High School in 1980.
Dave worked hard his entire life and mastered his trade as a welder. For over 20 years, he owned his own business specializing in natural gas drilling rigs. He enjoyed building smokers, stoves, and more; if it could be made from steel, Dave could weld it. Dave will be remembered for being a hardworking outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and being outside. He especially loved snowmobiles and racing with his children Bryce and Alyssa. Dave was a man of faith and never thought twice to help others.
Dave is survived by his parents, Dean and Arlene Lampman; his loving wife of 20 years, Jean Cameron; four children, Alyssa, Joshua (Jen), Jeremy (Casey), and Bryce (Katelyn); his two granddaughters, Lucy and Edith, who he adored; two sisters, Dawn (Tom) and Debbie; two nieces; four nephews; aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father.
Friends may call at Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Ed Siddle will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at 5:00 PM at Sweet Caroline’s Barbeque, 299 Tioga St., Wellsboro, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UPMC Susquehanna Hospice, (memo line—Wellsboro Team), 32 Central Ave, Wellsboro, PA 16901.

A Port Allegany man has been jailed after allegedly choking a woman early Saturday morning. State police claim Christopher Ballway of E. Arnold Avenue went to the victim’s home late Friday night and when the victim opened the door, Ballway reportedly grabbed HER  by the neck causing visible injuries. Ballway was committed to the McKean County jail in lieu of $40,000 bail after being arraigned before district Judge Bill Todd.

The Grinch must be in the neighborhood. State police in two counties have investigated the theft of packages. Sometime between 1:00 pm l;ast Monday, thieves took two packages from a mailbox on Tinker Stevens Road owned by Kirby Mummert of Shinglenouse. One package contained a Women’s Under Armor  shirt valued at $14.00 and the other held a red Under Armor LS Shirt valued at $32.98. Anyone who has information is asked to call state police at 814.276.8690.

Thieves stole a Fed Ex box Friday afternoon from the home of Danielle Martin of Wellsboro. Fed Ex confirmed the package had been delivered at 2:15 p. There were no neighbors who could have noticed anything. The box contained a computer desk valued at $76.99.

A puppy stolen from a Port Allegany home Saturday afternoon has been returned to the owner. State police at Kane report a 27 year old Liberty Township woman told them  a 43 year old man, also from Liberty Township, had taken the two month old puppy. Troopers located the pup and returned it to the owner. No charges will be filed.

Neither Ludlow resident  was hurt in a collision Friday morning on the Overbrook Road in Hamilton Township, McKean County. Kane based state police report the collision occurred when a 57 year old turned her Jeep Grand Cherokee left onto Overbrook Rad in front of a VW Passat driven by a 17 year old girl  The name of the adult driver was not released for some reason.

A Fairport, NY woman has been cited for drug possession by state police at Coudersport. Troopers stopped 23 year old Alyssa Ruskinko for a traffic violation on the Northern Potter Road in Bingham Township last May 26 and suspected she was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.She also was allegedly found in possession of pot and paraphernalia. Test results just received confirmed the suspicion and she now faces charges in district court.

State police at Kane have arrested 24 year old Levi Cliff of Eldred for multiple PFA violations, criminal mischief and harassment. Cliff is accused of going to the home of Alyssa Cliff of Crosby Saturday afternoon and committing the crimes at that location.

Colby Pierce of Westfield was arrested December 15 by troopers at the Coudersport barracks for various crimes. Troopers allege 33 year old Pierce drove a vehicle with no  ignition interlock to property in Hector Township owned by 80 year old Evelyn Hanes of Sabinsville’ burned several items from a trailer his is dismantling, without permission,   causing damage to the victim’s field. He was subsequently charged with illegally operating a vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock (apparently for a DUI conviction), scattering rubbish and criminal mischief.

Unknown vandals slashed two tires on a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt owned by a 24 year old Ridgway woman Saturday afternoon while it was parked on Commons Lane. The Douglas All Season tires are valued at $60. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in that town at 814.776.6136.

State police at Coudersport  investigated a camp burglary taking place between November 8 and last Wednesday on Telescope Road in Ulysses Township .Burglars forced their way into a camp owned by Mary and Ralph Wallace of Dover, PA and made off with a 55 inch Roku TV set. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 814.274.8690.
