Ridgway based State police claim a Ridgway woman was speeding when her car overturned Sunday morning on Shelvey Summit in Fox Township. Crystal Anderson was going north when her Nissan Versa went off the road on a left curve, traveled about 130 feet through a lawn before colliding head-on with a stump. The car rolled over several times while continuing for about 780 feet before stopping. Anderson, who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected while the vehicle was rolling over. However, she declined medical attention, according to police but has been charged with speeding and failing to use a seatbelt.
A Gaines driver was hurt early Sunday morning when her VW Jetta hit a deer on Route 362 in Delmar Township, Tioga County. Tylia Porter’s westbound car went off the shoulder and hit a ditch after colliding with the deer. Porter did not require treatment at a medical facility.
Injuries were reported for an Osceola woman and her passenger after a one-vehicle accident last Wednesday morning in Deerfield Township, Tioga County. Jennifer Willow was going east on Route 49 when she stopped suddenly, causing her Chevrolet Cobalt to spinoff the road, hit a mailbox and roll over two or three times before stopping. A 17 year old female passenger was seriously injured and was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre while Willow received minor injuries.
Both drivers escaped injury in a rear-end collision last Thursday afternoon on Route 287 in Richmond Township, Tioga County. Mansfield-based state police explained that the fender-bender happened when Randy Harding of Blossburg was the last vehicle in a line of traffic following a slow moving tractor. Luke Rawson of Wellsboro was behind Harding who, according to police, did not notice everyone was moving slower than the posted 55 mph posted speed limit and became distracted when he reached for a bottle of water and braked when he looked back at the line, but could not stop in time and his Chevrolet Impala bumped the rear end of Harding’s Chevrolet Impala shoving it into a section of guardrails.
An ID theft has been investigated by troopers in Mansfield. A criminal used Millerton resident 71 year old FrankGunn’s financial informatiho to open an Amazon and credit card account to buy a Bluetooth speaker form $177 on Decembere 13.
Troopers in Emporium are probing an ID theft victimizing a 72 year old Emporium woman on December 8. Thieves used the woman’s identity to acquire a credit card and then fraudulently to purchase several items.
Coudersport based state police are looking for burglars who stole several items from a Stewardson Township home between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm December 11. Several pieces of jewelry, old coins and cash were stolen from the home of Steve and Janet Sanderson of Chestnut Street. The thieves apparently parked their vehicle on the Old Cross Fork Road while they committed the crime.
Burglars stole a wallet and food from the fridge at the home of Savannah Stage in the Ridgway Commons between December 1 and 22. The loss is estimated to be $40.
State police at Ridgway have arrested 33 year old Stacy Parks of St. Marys for stealing merchandise from the St. Marys Walmart on three separate occasions. Authorities allege she stole $340.98 worth of merchandise from the store on November 3; that she tampered with a security dvice on an expensive item, destroyed the box and subsequently stole the itme from the store; and took two items from the store last Friday valued at $$45.76. Charges have been filed in District Court.
Two Ruger rifles were stolen from a camp in Spring Creek Township, Elk County last week. Criminals entered the camp owned by Leslie Stilwell of Ridgway through a second floor unlocked window between December 18 and 21.
Burglars entered a camper on Route 6 in Richmond Township, Tioga County between 3:00 and 7:00 pm last Wednesday through an unlocked door. Orange juice from the fridge was consumed and the toilet was used in the camper ownedby Aaron Sidleckof Lycoming County.
Unknown crooks caused $100 in damage to a door jam when they forced their way into a Chatham Township house owned by Henry Wood of Knoxville. A 2017 Arctic Cat Prowler 500 side by side ATV owned by Brennan Wood of Tioga was stolen from a garage on the property. The machine is valued at $9274.
Vandals broke a rear window in a vehicle owned by Jamie Williams of Genesee while it was parked on the Gold Road in Genesee Township between 1:00 and 2:30 pm Saturday.
Leadership Potter County will celebrate its tenth year in 2018. An updated program will be rolled out. whichh will cover important topics that teach participants about their own leadership styles and connect them to valuable resources in the county. New to the program are a customized learning environment, additional small group work, and “walk and talk” activities.

Dana Arlene Gooch Kenyon, 91, passed away at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA, on Friday, December 22, 2017. Daughter of C. Jay and H. Beryl Arnett Gooch, she was born on Ford Hill, Allegany Township, and graduated from Coudersport High School in 1944. She married Leonard Kenyon on August 11, 1945, they shared over 50 years of marriage together. For many years Dana and Leonard owned and operated Jersey Hill Farms, a dairy farm with registered Jersey cattle. Since 1997, their son Kent has continued the dairy business.
An active life-long member of Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church, she supported her husband by being very involved in dairy farming duties. She also kept very accurate, detailed records of her family’s genealogy over the years and served on the school board, Coudersport Area School District, for four years. She loved outdoor flower and vegetable gardening and cultivated several plants inside her home. She also was very fond of decorating with all kinds of butterflies. Most of all, she loved her family and always kept up with what was going on in their lives. Her home was filled with photos of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents C. Jay and H. Beryl Gooch, son Kurtis Lee, her husband Leonard (1997), her sister Marie Snyder (2006) and brothers Everett (2007) and Lester (1988) Gooch. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Metzger of Lemoyne, PA; her four sons Keith (Janice) of St. Joseph, Michigan; Karl (Franny) of Springboro, PA; Kevin (Sandy) and Kent (Kathy) Kenyon of Coudersport. Dana leaves seven grandchildren: Rebecca, Josiah, Jared, Jameson Kenyon of Coudersport; Mike (Gail) Kenyon of Conneaut, Ohio; Nicholas (Meredith) Kenyon, Sherman, NY; Heather (Steve) Pettis, Albion, PA; eight great grandchildren: Jonathan, Ben, Anna Kenyon of Conneaut, OH; Parker, Aurora, Natalie Kenyon of Sherman, NY, and Harper and Everett Pettis of Albion, PA.
Calling hours and celebration of her life will be held at Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church, 13 E. Carley Road, Coudersport, PA 16915, Friday, December 29, 2017. Calling hours are noon to 2pm. Celebration of her life will be at 2pm. Rev. Carl Greene will be officiating. The service for interment at Woodland Cemetery, Hebron Township, will also be held at the church.
